The recreation center facility houses an indoor pool, weight room,meeting space, sauna/steam room, game room, racquetball courts and a gymnasium.Outdoor facilities include 2 ball fields, 2 soccer fields, tennis courts,a handball court, splash park, dog park, skate park, playground, and nature trails (3/4 mile loop on the 22 acre site). But this site is even-more than an active recreation park; it is a demonstration site for environmental stewardship. The grounds are a national model for ecological urban green space integrated with traditional recreation. Greenspace improvements include on site treatment of storm water, permaculture and native vegetation, restoring areas of natural habitat and wetlands, and connector trails to RTA's Rapid Station (West 61st/Lorain).
One of the neighborhood's greatest assets is its proximity to Lake Erie and Edgewater State Park. Divided into two sections, upper and lower area, the 419 acre park is connected to the neighborhood from the West 65th Street bike/Walking trail and the West. 76th Street walking trail. The park's amenities include a fishing pier, swimming beaches, a fitness course, 4 picnic shelters, beach concessions, summer nature programs, bike trails, seasonal dock rentals, boat launch ramps, playgrounds and picnic tables.
